Neal Adams, MD, MPH

Director of Psychiatry — Psychiatric Consultant

Dr. Neal Adams is the Director of Psychiatry at The Doctor and a distinguished leader in mental health care and policy. He earned his MD from Northwestern University and his MPH from Harvard University, completed his psychiatry residency at Stanford, and served as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar. Over his career, Dr. Adams has held major leadership roles, including President of the American College of Mental Health Administration and Medical Director at the California Institute for Mental Health. He is the author of Person-Centered Treatment Planning for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery and has written numerous policy monographs and journal articles. Dr. Adams frequently presents at local, national, and international conferences, and he provides training on treatment planning, clinical outcomes measurement, and implementing evidence-based practices in real-world systems. At The Doctor, he guides the overall direction of psychiatric services, advises on complex or high-risk cases, and supports the integration of mental health into the broader care model. He does not see patients on a regular outpatient schedule; instead, his time is reserved for escalated cases and strategic psychiatric oversight.
