Clinical Associate.

Full-time, hourly, at both clinics. For someone who trained as a physician — in the United States or anywhere else — and wants to work in US primary care while building their own path forward.

The Doctor is an LGBTQ+-focused primary care practice with clinics in West Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles. We are hiring a Clinical Associate: a clinically trained professional who works alongside our physicians and nurse practitioners every day — rooming and preparing patients, drawing blood and giving injections after our training sign-off, documenting visits as a scribe, preparing charts before visits, coordinating referrals and results, teaching patients from clinician-approved material, and helping us build better clinical workflows.

We pay every hour, teach you our systems, and after six months we help with the next step: up to $5,250 a year in educational assistance, two paid hours a week of protected study or shadowing time, a clinician mentor, and documented experience letters for your applications.

You will
  • Room patients, take vitals and history, give injections and draw blood (after our sign-off), run point-of-care tests and EKGs — always with a licensed clinician on site.
  • Scribe visits in real time and prepare charts before patients arrive.
  • Enter and track the orders, referrals and prior authorizations our clinicians decide on; route results and messages by protocol.
  • Teach patients from clinician-approved material and make follow-up calls.
  • Help keep our quality registries and design better intake, rooming and documentation workflows — including the clinical content behind our AI tools, reviewed by our clinicians.
You have
  • A medical degree (MD, MBBS, DO or equivalent) from an accredited school in any country, and at least a year of hands-on clinical experience.
  • Clear, kind communication in English; Spanish, Russian or Tagalog is a plus.
  • Comfort with computers and electronic health records; you can type as you listen.
  • BLS/CPR within 30 days of starting (we cover it), and authorization to work in the United States.
  • Warmth and respect for our community: LGBTQ+ patients, sexual health, HIV prevention and care, gender-affirming care.
Pay, hours and benefits

$23.00–$30.00 per hour, full-time (40 hours a week), hourly and non-exempt with overtime under California law. This is a good-faith range for the position; where you start depends on your clinical experience and your English.

Paid sick leave and paid time off per our handbook, health benefits per our plan, and the six-month pathway above: educational assistance, protected paid development time, a clinician mentor, and experience letters.

Important

This is not a licensed clinical role. The Clinical Associate works under the supervision of our licensed clinicians and does not diagnose, treat, prescribe or triage. A California medical license is not required.

How to apply

Apply on our job board with your CV and a short note about yourself — it takes a few minutes. Write in the language you are most comfortable in; we read Spanish and Russian.
